biodynamic craniosacral therapy

Attain complete emptiness, Hold fast to stillness.

The ten thousand things stir about; I only watch for their going back.

Things grow and grow, But each goes back to its root.

Going back to the root is stillness.

This means returning to what is.

- Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching

Your body’s natural state is health. Health is ever present as the body is in a constant state of repair, regulation and regeneration. It is the intrinsic health of the human system, and nature, which is always present supporting Life.

The biodynamic model of craniosacral therapy is based on an understanding of the natural forces that organize form. We orient to a Divine ordering principle at work in the Universe and spiritual roots of creation. All expressions of life emerge out of stillness. There is an essential stillness that lies at our core as well as a series of subtle rhythms expressed through the body. The subtle motions are essentially produced by our inherent life force, called the Breath of Life. The Breath of Life acts as our most fundamental organising force expressing health and vitality.

As the Breath of Life expresses itself in the body, a series of oceanic, tidal-like rhythms are generated throughout the body, producing subtle movements of all fluids and tissues. This motion significantly involves the central nervous system, cerebrospinal fluid and surrounding membranes and bones. The manifestation of these rhythms in the body denotes the effective distribution of the Breath of Life and is indicative of health. It is the fluid systems of the body that distribute the essential potency of the Breath of Life. Fluid can be seen everywhere in Nature as the carrier of life. An ordering matrix carried into the body within these natural rhythms act as a blueprint for our wellbeing which is present from the moment of early embryological development, particularly conception.

Emphasis during therapy is to support the resolution of trapped forces that underlie and govern patterns of disease and fragmentation in both body-mind. These patterns are commonly caused by factors such as physical injuries, emotional and psychological stresses, trauma and toxicity. The intention of treatment is to facilitate the expression of the Breath of Life and so enhance the body’s own self-healing and self-regulating capabilities. This involves a gentle hands-on contact of palpation and perception to sense the body’s subtle rhythms and any patterns of inertia or congestion. It is a meditative touch, derived from the ancient art of laying-on of hands which has been practiced as a sacrament in all of the great spiritual traditions.

It is an effective form of treatment for a wide range of illnesses helping to create the optimal conditions for health, encouraging vitality and facilitating a sense of well-being. It is suitable for beings of all ages including babies, children and the elderly, and can be effective in acute or chronic cases. During a treatment session, you will lay horizontal on a soft treatment table and experience a light touch of the practitioner’s hands. Each treatment begins with a guided meditation, orienting to dynamic stillness and the body’s innate intelligence to heal and facilitate self repair. This state is a pure meditative absorption between the practitioner and client, in the Divine.

During treatment you may experience a deep sense of relaxation as well as sensations such as heat, tingling or pulsations, as energy held in the body is discharged. The treatment often involves a process of letting go of patterns that inhibit your health.

A treatment is 60 minutes in total - with 40 minutes of treatment and 10 minutes before and after for sensitive discussion. A case history is taken during your first consultation.
